I went to Island Waterworks today and it's in bad shape. The green tipping bucket isn't working (and wasn't working a month ago either) and on the 3rd level, there was a small section blocked off. I'm not sure of the reason but you could walk around that section. I guess they figure there is no point to fixing anything if it's going to be closing for good in less than 2 months.

I like Wildwater Kingdom, but it is time for an update. There should be some newer slides and the changing room/restroom should be expanded because that gets very crowded on weekends. I've always thought that they should get a tornado slide. I would also like to see wildwater kingdom expand into the parking lot or into thunder canyon.

I dont know if anyone else noticed this but there is an area around the pathway leading from WWK to Thunder Canyon that has some sort of Construction markers. If you ride the Cedar Creek Cannonball, you can probably get a better look at this. Not sure if that has something to do with future attractions or just storm drains or something.

Thunder Canyon needs to stay. Its one of the only ones left in the area, though its a bit rough.

It would be ideal for Dorney to keep Thunder Canyon and continue to expand the water park into the parking lot. Thunder Canyon is still a big hit and is really the only draw to the back part of the park. Plus, expanding into the parking lot would force Dorney to reconstruct their currently awful drop off/pick up system.

I think they should upgrade Aqua Racer and make it just like the Big Wave Racer that Hurricane Harbor has. That looks awesome.

is anyone a little concerned that things may be worse for dp/wwk than we think? First, nothing new. Then a rather large increase in season pass prices. Now I start to here these stories (not just in the above post) but of things sort of in a state of disarray. I would not go so far as to say the park is falling apart but can't help but wonder if its days as a cf park are coming to an end. Perhaps it will become 2 independently owned parks? Its just very dissapointing what they have done the last few years in so far as new (or lack there of) rides, recycled rides, rasing prices, cutting hours etc etc...

That sounds pretty dramatic. I'd say the crowds at the park are average for this time of year. Season pass prices ALWAYS go up during the year, I don't get why people are having a fuss over it. Island water works is really the only thing in any sort of "disarray". After all, if the rumors are true that this is its last year, I see no point in pouring more money into it for 3 months of operating. Park hours have actually been extended after adding those midnight closes last year. Rides are another thing, but I really think people are getting worked up over nothing.

I think that Dorney Park is better off than Valleyfair(no new coaster since 2007, and they only got Dinosaurs Alive this year) and Michigans Adventure(does not even have Planet Snoopy or Dinosaurs Alive). With the exception of Gatekeeper, I don't think much of the chain really got anything this year. We were going to get every night fireworks which could have been the price of a small ride. I do not really see much for next year at the chain's parks except King's Island. Maybe all the money saved by building used rides and no rides at all over the past few years could really be saved for something big. I would love for the park to expand completely in the main lot. I do not really think Cedar Fair will close the park or shut it down, but what could be some possibilities? What would they do about Valleyfair, Michigans Adventure, and Worlds of Fun? If Dorney Park was sold, maybe the new owners might put a lot of money into the park. I think the park has lots of potential because it is near very populated areas.

Screamscape is reporting basically what has already been posted here. http://screamscape.com/html/dorney_park.htm

Removal of the speed slides, addition of a water fortress and they also report a new classic flat ride like Flying Scooters. I wouldn't mind seeing Flying Scooters, they look like a fun ride but I'd still rather have bumper cars back.

I think that Flying Scooters would be a GREAT addition to the park and the old Joker area really is perfect for that! They are a ton of fun for riders of all ages so it would be a nice and inexpensive upgrade.
2015... My year off from Dorney. C'mon Cedar Fair, you are losing me...

Here is a photo of what I saw happening by the Thunder Canyon side entrance to WKK:

It looks like drainage work or something else non-exciting to me.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I'd rather not have a flying scooters. Id rather have something with a little more thrill value, and something with a little more bragging rights to it. :| I dunno, and I dont think one would fit in the old Joker area.. I think its too wide of a ride once it starts to reach its full spin cycle. But Im no expert by any means.

*bring back joker!*

According to Screamscape, Roller Coaster rumor is set for 2015. It would be nice if they would upgrade WWK and build a NEW coaster and flat all for the 2014 Season. This would definately be worth buying a season pass for 2014.
