Makes sense if they will use the section in the parking lot since the overflow area is being worked on right now. It would be awesome if they use both sections! Im getting excited about Dorney's future plans. Hopefully the park will be back with competition of Hershey and Six Flags. Wildwater Kingdom is better than Hershey's boardwalk anyway.

I wonder if this means it will be just one major attraction compared to the original plan for multiple attractions (including the flying scooters). I guess we will have to only wait till tomorrow to find out.

Info on new attraction:

https://www.dorneypark.com/what-s-new/s ... w-for-2014

Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom will bring top rated thrills into its world class water park with the addition of Snake Pit, a complex that will bring six new slide experiences to guests in the 2014 season. In combination with the largest selection of water park attractions in the Northeast, this addition reinforces Wildwater Kingdom is the region’s must visit destination for summer family fun..

The six new slides offer a variety of opportunities for Guests to test their limits as they look to cool off from the summer heat. At the peak of the 65-foot-tall structure, guests will step into the chambers of Python Plummet that will send them into a free-fall drop as long as 450-feet. In addition to this intense experience, Guests can also choose between the three different tube slides of Boa Blasters and the Constrictor.

“With this major expansion to Wildwater Kingdom we will continue to bring a best-day-of-the-summer experience to our Guests that makes Dorney Park the entertainment destination of choice in the Northeast,” states Michael Fehnel, Vice President and General Manager of Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom. “We chose this multi-slide complex to offer our Guests an entirely new variety of water slide experiences. Now with 26 slides, Wildwater Kingdom is the perfect place for summer fun.”

That's it? The slide is cool and a good addition, but I was expecting a bit more. WWK is still really stale, and needs another big overhaul like they did for 2003.

I would like to know where this slide complex will be put, are the speed slides going away? Will they build this by Wildwater Cove or by Thunder Canyon, do we say good by to Island Water Works?

I went to the official announcement today despite the horrible weather. Riptide Run and The Lily Pads will be removed. Also Jumpin' Jack Splash's splash down pool will become smaller. Snake Pit will be located in that area in the middle of Wildwater Kingdom. Speed Slides are staying.

That sucks! I thought this was going to be a Water park expansion! Dont get me wrong, this is a nice addition but they are not expanding. Plus Island water works will be left alone in bad shape. You would think they would have upgraded it. SMH. Not sure if I want to renew my season passes for 2014.

What will happen to the 2 lower riptide pools?

I also was expecting something different. The constrictor slide looks like the best slide to me. Its a shame to hear Riptide Run is leaving. I thought it was just ok but it was very high capacity and rarely had much of a line and was something different that other water parks in the area don't have. With both Riptide Run and the Lily Pads removed even with 6 new slides, the capacity for rides given in WWK might be decreasing. Also the 2 other this slides look very similar to Patriot's Plunge with the slides enclosed for the first part of the slide and one slide has a double down like the red slide and the other has a big drop like the white slide. At least this is the best addition Dorney has gotten in years though.

Sucks to see Riptide go, and the Lily Pads...don't care for them, but that's more capacity lost. It wouldn't have been bad to put this where the Speed Slides are, at least the count would have gone up by 4 slides.

And agreed that Water Works is looking in sad shape, that area should be upgraded before removing of Riptide.

When I was a lifeguard at WWK we use to refer the park as a mouse trap. Because around Aquablast it was confusing to explain to a guest how to get to attractions and where the entrances are.

Also, Jumpin Jack is getting run outs and 3.5m will be used for improvements throughout WWK.

I guess run outs should make it better for little kids who can't swim but I liked how it went into the pool at a higher level than other slides so you didn't go underwater.

Yea sad that the pool will be replaced with run out lanes. I guess since they have had several incidents where people didnt expect to land in a pool and nearly drowned. Ive seen it happen before especially with the kids.
