New ride at Dorney?

Postby BigDorneyFan » Tue Apr 07, 2015 5:33 pm

Morning Call article mentions a new building being approved and it has a queue. Anyone have any info on this? Being constructed north of the overflow lot. Dark Ride coming to Dorney Park?

Here is the article....

Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom has submitted plans for a new building north of its overflow parking area, but it's unclear what the structure will house.

The plans call for a one-story, 3,200-square-foot building with a sidewalk, queue lines and a service drive. It would cover 0.3 acres of the 187-acre property in South Whitehall Township.

Township planner Gregg Adams said the plans were submitted about two weeks ago and will go to the planning commission for review.

The process "should probably go reasonably quickly because it is a fairly simple, minimal project," he said. "It's not like building a ride or anything."

Dorney Park officials have not responded to repeated phone calls and emails for comment on the project.

Knott's Journey to the Iron Reef is 18,000 square feet. Kings Island's recent Haunt building addition was about 5,000 square feet and billed as their largest.

So, I see this as a new Haunt structure down by Asylum or maybe a maintenance structure.

Not sure if this is what Dorney is preparing for, but saw an article today about Cedar Fair plans to put interactive dark rides in all their parks:
