Coming in 2004...?

Postby dptalon135 » Sat Sep 06, 2003 4:02 pm

We know what's going on with Hercules, and what is coming in 2005, but at the end of the latest FUNTimes email from Dorney Park, there was this comment:

"Please visit http://www.dorneypark.com soon for all the details on new
attractions for the 2004 season! Information on the new 2005 attraction
will be available in late 2004."

What do you think will be added in '04?

I don't know what they will get, but I have my own wishlist. And it includes a high thrill flat ride (I pray Huss Giant) and a family flat. I also think there will be a big celebration for the 120th anniversary and with that will come much merchandise.

*yawns
"attractions" can literally mean anything from new bathrooms and food stalls to rides.

Yes, and nobody said otherwise. There are still lots of nice non-ride things they could add. I wouldn't mind seeing a new sit down restaurant or some new type of show.

New Attraction could be coming near the laser area. And no there will be no coaster. All I heard from Maintainence is the manufactors of the new attraction. Possible like the Claw from Hershey Park, information is stechy at this time.

Zierer? Huss? Zamperla could mean many, many options, though I'd prefer a Huss  .

Chance-Morgan, eh? You mentioned it may be like the Claw at HP - well, considering that the Claw was made by Chance-Morgan, and Cedar Fair added the same ride at Knott's this year... looks like this is pretty much figured out.

I actually rode the Claw this summer, it's a lot of fun. Some people will say oh why would they add a ride that their competition (HP) has - but the demographics for the parks are so different it doesn't even matter.

Sounds cool, hope it gets a good paint job and a decent name!

Mike (Who's enjoying having to figure out what the new ride is instead of knowing ahead of time!)

I said it's possible to have something like the Claw. I don't really know at this time that Dorney Park would something that HP already has. Dorney Park would get something different than HP doesn't have or SFGADV has.
We'll have to wait and see later of 2004 in the Dorney Park newsletter and website.

"I said it's possible to have something like the Claw. I don't really know at this time that Dorney Park would something that HP already has. Dorney Park would get something different than HP doesn't have or SFGADV has. "

Let's start with the Inverted Coaster. GrAdv got theirs in 1993, Hershey in 1998, and Dorney in 2001. Same ride, different layouts.

Then there's the Wild Mouse, which both HP and DP have and were added in '99 and '00, with HP adding it first.

Top Spin? GrAdv added one a year after Dorney added theirs.

Steel Force was first, then came Nitro.

If you want to go back about 10 years you can still find this trend with White Water Landing and Tidal Force, both record breakers and both added within a few years of each other.

I'm not even saying that DP will add a Chance Revolution, I'm just saying that I wouldn't be surprised for a second if they did.

Oh, and also that the three parks you mentioned have always added similar attractions.

I think if they are going for that type of ride, they should have went with the Huss Giant Frisbee... I mean, same idea, but so much bigger. That's something that can be advertised well and people will come to see, if not ride.

I remember hearing something like there was a Chaos in storage for them to install for 2003, but it never happened. That could be a possibility for 2004 just as a filler until 2005.
