After a horrible trip to the park on a Sunday in August in 2006 and hearing about the bad crowds on weekends and especially on Sunday's in the summer, I was a little hesitant to go to the park today but since I haven't been to Dorney in almost a month, I decided to take the chance and go.
I got there around 5:45 and the main lot was packed, cars were parked on grass and the overflow lot was at least half full. WWK looked like lines were 20+ minutes for all the slides so I planned to skip it today. Parking has been raised $2 and is now $12.
I was looking forward to trying Demon Drop, but it was closed with 1 car almost at the top of the lift so I went to Voodoo instead. Just over a 10 minute wait, the launch felt a little weaker today. Steel Force was next with 2 trains running and only a 1 train wait for the first row of the last car.
From Steel Force's lift it looked like crowds were thinning out in WWK and even though I would have barely an hour before the 8:00 closing, I figured I would go and try to get as many slides in as I could. I ended up riding Patriot's Plunge 6 times, Wildwater Rapids 7 times and Jumpin Jack Splash 6 times, 19 slides in 70 minutes total. I never expected to be able to get so many slides in with the park so crowded but I guess after later in the day, people leave to eat dinner or go to the rides side of the park.
After that I was kind of tired and decided to leave especially since Talon looked like it had a long line and I figured all lines were going to be bad because the lot was still packed and the WWK crowds would be heading into the rides side of the park.
