9/12/10 Trip - D e s e r t e d

My wife and I were on our way back to NJ from Harrisburg PA and stopped by around 2:30. The lot was as close to empty as I have ever seen. At the time we arrived there was no rain but a drop here or there. Went to Talon with only 3 other people on with me. I would've done it a few times but I cant do multiple rides on rides like these as I could years ago so on to Hydra. Again no wait, front row by myself, I think 1 other person in the back. We usually take a ride on the train but it didn't seem to be running. I even took a ride on the Wild Mouse since it only had 4 people in line when we went by.

I think around this time we started getting some misting rain, nothing bad. Demon Drop was not running. Does it not run in the rain as a rule? Took a ride on Dominator Red, only person on the ride. Did Green next which had 2 others with me. After that we went to Possessed followed by Steel Force, again both had no wait to speak of. Finally we decided to do Road Rally for the first time ever, fun but short. At this point I was tempted to reverse direction and hit each ride again on the way out but we decided against it.

On our way out we renewed our season passes for next year, funny this was the only line all day (2 people). :D

Would have been a perfect day if only the rain had stayed away completely but at least it wasn't a downpour, at least not while we were there.

Did the park end up closing early that day?

Anyone know what the private event was on Sat.?

I heard all the rollercoasters had only one train running, but I don't know if the park closed early. I don't know anything about Saturday's private event.

Demon Drop didn't open yesterday because of something. Not sure if the Haunt building caused it or not.

Yes, it was dead. I know many rides closed early. A few rides didn't open through the day. I think a combination of weather and Saturday's buy-out had something to do with the low numbers.

Demon Drop closes for any kind of wet weather.

I went to Dorney Park on a Tuesday in July and it rained worse than Sunday. That day Demon Drop was closed all day. The waterpark had no lines and the coasters had only one train running. Since they only had one train running all the stations filled up and the lines were about 10 minutes.

Yeah Sunday was so dead that even with only one train running there were no lines or usually no one even in the station.

That is nuts!!! I would have thought it would be packed with the $12 SP deal. I didn't go because it was the first weekend of football. Combine that with school being back in session and the weather... that is probably why most people stayed away...

Are $12 season pass deals crowded?
