Hershey's Flying Falcon last season

Postby Kozmo 1 » Mon Jun 29, 2009 11:32 am

I hope the rumors aren't true, but I've seen this coming for a long time.

If you really like the Flying Falcon I suggest contacting Hersheypark to let them know. I just sent an email and posted on their facebook http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/pages/Hershey-PA/Hersheypark/16994689356

I never tried Flying Falcon but is always a shame to lose a ride, especially one that isn't that common anymore.

I wonder what is going to go in it's place since it isn't a huge footprint. I could see a drop tower but knowing Hershey they would probably go for a single or double tower complex if it was S&S rather than the 3 or 4 tower complex that is needed.

Unless they move convoy and the frog hopper to midway and put the red baron in FF's place. That would clear up some nice room for a drop tower.

It was updated on screamscape yesterday that the park may be looking at a drop tower. Would make sense. If they do get one I hope it's S&S...I like those alot better than the Intamins. A 4-Tower ride a little over 300' would be cool. Would still rather have the Falcon though.

And yeah, I guess they could always relocate the kiddie rides to other areas of the park or Dutch Wonderland even.

I like that ride, I really hope they don't remove it.

^^ but doesn't DW have all of the kiddie rides in that area? (I'm not sure if they have a ride like Red baron, though.

Well they have a Frog Hopper and a truck ride. They don't have a Red Baron but they do have a Skyfighter which I guess is different enough. But I don't really see Hershey removing any kiddie rides unless they're replacing them with new ones. But I'm sure they could find room for them elsewhere in the park.

That would be terrible! I love that ride, and frankly, wish Dorney would get one. It's a great ride for people with kids, as it feels like "big ride" yet younger kids can ride it, and get quite a thrill out of it.

I wish Dorney would get one too...my favorite flat anywhere...close 2nd would be the Troika which has a similar ride sensation, but doesn't go up in the air and isn't as neat to look at. Sadly accourding to the Huss webpage neither ride is offered anymore.

For some reason, the Flying Falcon is the only ride in the park that makes me nervous and I'm never scared of rides. Although I'm jealous of people who are because the probably get more of a thrill.

This was a cool ride. I am sorry to see it go... Although I agree with the post before mine that this ride is on my very short list of rides that worry me. Something about it just does not feel safe. But Iit will still be missed :(
2015... My year off from Dorney. C'mon Cedar Fair, you are losing me...

From further reports it sounds like it will be around at least for 2010. Word has it Hershey has postponed expansion plans for next year due to the uncertain state of the economy.

Finally something good comes of the bad economy...perhaps more classic rides will be saved longer as parks don't want to take the money to replace them right now....

Unless your Cedar Fair....then you just remove it and leave an empty hole in your park...
