Usability concern

Postby DorneyParker01 » Fri Jan 11, 2008 7:51 am

Hello to whomever set up the new board.

I like the change but have a small concern about the usablity. I have never browsed a forum where the posters information is on the right and just wanted to say it kind of throws the page off balance slightly. Everything else looks nice, is there a way to move the information to the left of the posts?

Just curious, and I guess just my opinion also, although I am somewhat of a usability expert at my firm.

That's just the way the default theme is set up. It can't be changed without changing to a different theme (of which there aren't many yet due to this being a new version of the board), or making drastic changes to the template code. I didn't really like it at first either, but the more you use it, you get used to it. It's kind of nice focusing on the discussion rather than the user names and avatars.

To me it's just different, and anything different is going to feel weird since we get used to how things "used to be".

I for one like it as well - as was said there's more focus on the discussion and less on who is doing the speaking. That way it's easier to read WHAT is said with an open mind instead of seeing who posted it and developing a bias based on WHO said it. I mean, you can still do that, but it's not as naturally flowing with this new setup.

Actually I didn't notice it until I read this...
