Talon, Steel Force or Hydra?

Postby djw44 » Sun Aug 12, 2012 9:59 pm

Thinking back to better times for the park, of the three major new Cedar Fair coaster installations, which was your favorite? Steel Force, Talon or Hydra?

It is a tough call for me between Steel Force and Talon. I like Steel Force for it being a classic but Talon is the more thrilling ride. Tough call. I think I give the edge to Talon though.

I think Talon is a better coaster and my favorite ride in the park so I voted for that but I think Steel Force made more on an impact on the park sort of putting it on the map I guess since it was the first hyper coaster on the East Coast.

Steel Force is so much fun though! It is so relaxing, it is almost like the Gemini of the park with how much fun and relaxing it is.

Tough choice but Talon gets my vote. SF is great too but Talon is so intense that it is hard not to pick it. If Hydra were a little smoother, it may have also been a consideration for me...

I put in the single Hydra vote. I dont understand the general dislike hydra gets. I LOVE it, though overall out of the three Im not sure which Id choose..

No dislike comes from me. It just is not my fav and over the past few years it has become a little rough. It would be a solid coaster all around if it were smoother.

There must be something funny about that ground. Maybe it is an ancient curse that will make any coaster that resides there, rough. Hmmm...

The rattling/vibration is annoying to me and I don't like how most of the ride is inversion after inversion. I don't think it's a bad ride but of the 14 B&M coasters I have ridden it is my least favorite and I like Bizarro at Great Adventure a lot more.

I'm with those who don't get the Hydra hate. I personally don't feel that the ride is rough, but then again, I rode Herc a fair amount back in the day and perhaps my sensory perception might have been somewhat altered by those experiences. I think that Hydra, when ridden up front, is a great experience.

As far as the other two, I too love SF and genuinely appreciate what it represented as well, but I have to give my nod to Talon as being the top of the list. It can stand tall with virtually any top rails out there, and it has a unique and intense layout. It's also an absolute rush to ride at any part of the train.
