Knoebels 2013 new rides

Postby Kozmo 1 » Sun Jan 13, 2013 7:27 pm

Not much else going on in the region it seems, so anyone else excited about the shot tower and Crazy Sub coming to Knoebels?

I think they'll both fit in nice and it's good to see them add something new almost every year.

Looks like some good additions to the park. I have been on AtmosFEAR at Morey's which looks like it is from the same manufacturer and it's a fun ride. Unlike Dominator, you drop almost right when you get to the top. I like how they are adding a thrill ride and a family ride so there is something new for both groups.

It's always nice how they tend to come up with new rides out of the blue. Black Diamond is GREAT too, for anyone that hasn't been on it yet.

I haven't been there in almost 5 years but was hoping Flying Turns would open soon so I could get that credit plus Black Diamond and Kozmo's Kurves. Maybe this year or next year I'll go back there and Hershey too since I haven't been there since 2010.

I wouldn't hold your breath on Flying Turns opening...such a shame really. I wish they would have gone for a nice portable steel coaster for that spot. Lazer being ideal, but even a Wild Mouse or Wildcat/Zyklon type would have been a great fit for the park.

Yeah they could use some kind of steel coaster. With Kentucky Kingdom reopening and hearing a while ago the Schwarzkopf shuttle loop isn't part of the new park plans, I wouldn't mind seeing that added to the park.

Knoebels definitely needs a steel coaster, especially one with at least ONE inversion.

I know im in the minority, but I wish they still had Whirlwind. I think some proper TLC could of made it alot better.. but thats just me. (and probably only me)

Those new trains like the one Sidewinder got might have helped make it smoother. I never rode Whirlwind but I'm sure I wouldn't have found it too bad of a coaster since I really liked Scream Machine at Great Adventure even though it had a horrible reputation for being rough.

LOL.. Whirlwind. The coaster went about 9 mph, and the lift was literally twice as long as the ride. I'm not sure new vekoma trains could have made that any more comfortable. It wasn't a bad coaster.. but it was about as thrilling as "lil lazer" was.

I miss the 'high speed thrill coaster' that used to be over the motorboats. That was a really intense little coaster.

As to developments this year.. I know they ran a few test trains (in house built) on Flying Turns last year, and I honestly think that's their big goal for this year. Getting that running.

Black Diamond is not a bad coaster, in the old school vein of a Bill Tracy dark ride.

I dont know, I've never been on whirlwind but my sister loved it. :?

And Rumors floating around screamscape and the web report that they've been testing new flying turns trains. Water dummies and everything.

Anyone watch the new video of the new trains being tested on the tracks? I didnt watch it, but its apparently getting mixed reactions from what I hear. Their testing them like crazy, even during park hours. Good sign maybe?

It's good to see the Flying Turns finally opened. I thought it might be one of those rides that got built but never operated. I'm going to try to get there next year.

I rode it on Saturday. It's a lot of fun, and a great fit for the park. I had no doubts that they would eventually get it working. There has been a very experienced and talented group of individuals working on it, and it shows in the quality of how comfortably it rides now that they finally got the adjustments just right.
