New for 2008, Possessed is an Intamin impulse coaster. This shuttle launch coaster features two 180 foot tall towers and a top speed of 70 mph. In it's former life, Possessed operated as Steel Venom and Superman: Ultimate Escape at Geauga Lake/Six Flags Worlds of Adventure. When it was added to Dorney Park in 2008, the ride was originally named Voodoo. Due to a trademark dispute with another park, the ride was renamed Possessed for the 2009 season. For detailed information on Possessed in it's former location, check out its page on RollerCoaster Database. This page follows the construction of Possessed.

5/3/08 - Opening Day '08
Voodoo's sign looks great. All site work and landscaping is complete. The train was parked outside the station.
A close up of the train. Possessions is open for all your Voodoo merchandise needs.

Although the ride wasn't running, all site work around Voodoo appears to be complete. Here are a few photos of the station area and train, provided by DPO member Mike.

4/9/08 - In-Park Update
A look at the site showing progress on the station and queue. This is where the queue passes under the back spike. Looking up the back spike.
A look at the queue. Another view of the queue. A front view of the station. Notice the operator booth is complete.
Another angle of the station. This pad is where the giant Voodoo sign will be placed. The entrance is to the left. A large area has been paved allowing close viewing of the launch, and I'm told seating will be placed here for Laser Refreshments.
A closer look at the paved area. What's going on at the end of the launch? Installation of the train has begun! A close up view of the first car being added.
Looking up a the front spike. All of the seats for the train are lined up and ready to go. A close up of one of the seats.
Work is progressing on the former Drop Shop gift shop, which is now known as Possessions. Painting isn't quite finished. This shop will be for Voodoo merchandise.

While at the park this afternoon I took a walk by the Voodoo site with Public Relations Manager Charles Hutchinson. A lot of work was being done around the site in preparation for the quickly approaching opening day. The queue is currently being assembled, finishing touches are being placed in the station including fencing, and yes, the train is in the process of being installed. Currently, the plan is for testing to begin next week. Also of note is the large paved area along the launch track which will allow guests an up close view of the launch, and may also feature some seating for the nearby food stands. Work is also progressing on converting the former Drop Shop gift shop into the new Possessions shop for Voodoo. Overall it seems like the Voodoo site is coming together nicely. Special thanks to Charles for taking the time to walk around the site and allowing me to share these photos!

3/15/08 - Completed Structure

Voodoo's structure was completed last week, and it looks great. Thanks to DPO member randydorney for sharing these photos of the completed ride!
